Parish holders was until 1974 a municipality in the district of Recklinghausen in the administrative district of Münster in North Rhine-Westphalia . The community was one of the “parish communities” typical of Münsterland, which comprised the rural area around an urban church.

The parish of Haltern parish encompassed the town of Haltern am See in a collar shape . Most of the Hohen Mark and the villages of Antrup, Bergbossendorf, Berghalter, Holtwick , Lavesum , Lehmbraken, Lochtrup, Ontrup, Stockwiese, Strünkede, Sythen and Westrup were located within the municipality . In 1974 the community covered an area of ​​93.5 km².

history

The parish of the Haltern parish had belonged to the Haltern office in the Coesfeld district since 1843 . In 1929 it was reclassified to the Recklinghausen district together with the city of Haltern and the communities of Hullern and Lippramsdorf . Due to the Ruhr Area Law , the municipality of Kirchspiel Haltern was largely incorporated into the city of Haltern am See on January 1, 1975. A small sub-area came to the city of Dülmen in the Coesfeld district .
