Kiriša

Depiction of an Elamite goddess on the rock relief of Kurangun . According to Heidemarie Koch , this is the goddess Kiriša.

Kiriša or Kiririša ( Elamish "Great Goddess") was an Elamite goddess who was originally worshiped in Liyan . Especially in the second millennium BC She ousted Pinikir as the most important Elamite goddess.

Kiriša had titles such as “Lady of Heaven”, “Benefactress of Kings”, “Lady of the High Temple”, “Mother of the Gods” or “Great Wife”. These titles suggest a mother goddess . Finds in the Kiriša temple of Dur-Untaš , built by the Elamite king Untaš-Napiriša, show that Kiriša was the aspect of the mother goddess associated with battle and war, because weapons were primarily consecrated to her.

Kiriša was the wife of the god Napiriša (Elamish "Great God"), the Lord of the earth and chief god of Anshan . If the god Humban is hiding behind Napiriša , then she was also the wife of Humban. The son of Kiriša and Napiriša was Hutran , a god of fighters and soldiers.
