Kiril Sakskoburggotski ( Bulgarian Кирил Сакскобургготски ; * July 11, 1964 in Madrid ), German also Kyrill von Sachsen-Coburg and Gotha , English Kyril of Saxe-Coburg or Kyril of Preslav (correct English spelling only with an “l”, but not to be confused with the Bulgarian Prince Kyrill Preslavski), is a Bulgarian politician and finance broker.

Kiril Sakskoburggotski is the second son of the former King and Prime Minister of Bulgaria Simeon Sakskoburggotski and his wife Margarita Gomez-Acebo y Cejuela. He is not to be confused with his uncle of the same name , a brother of Tsar Boris , who reigned for Boris' son Simeon and was executed in 1945.

After studying quantum physics at Princeton University (graduation " cum laude " 1986: BA Physics and Corporate Finance, thesis topic: Velocity distribution of pulsars : a Monte Carlo simulation ) Sakskoburggotski worked for twelve years as a financial broker at the investment bank Lehman Brothers in London; there his wife Rosario Nadal y Fuster-Puigdorfila (married since 1989) gave birth to three children:

  • Mafalda was born on July 27, 1994
  • Olimpia was born on December 13, 1995
  • Tassilo was born on January 20, 2002.

From 1997 to 2002 Kiril Sakskoburggotski worked in Sofia, where he had returned before his father, as an economic advisor to the Bulgarian President Petar Stoyanov . In the 2001 parliamentary elections, the NDSW party of his father, who became Prime Minister of Bulgaria, won. The members of his government included Economics Minister Nikolai Wassilew and Finance Minister Milen Weltschew, two people who, like Kyrill Sakskoburggotski, were bankers in London and members of the London “Bulgarian City Club”; therefore it was assumed that Kiril Sakskoburggotski was involved in the appointment.

From October 2000 to March 2002, Sakskoburggotski was the Non-Executive Director of Online Travel Corporation PLC. During this time, the company achieved its breakthrough to its current position as one of the UK's leading online travel companies.

Kiril Sakskoburggotski is currently "Executive Director - Asset Allocation and Southern European Equities" at GLG Partners (one of the world's largest hedge funds with invested assets of 11.5 billion dollars, founded as a subsidiary of Lehman Brothers and Goldman Sachs , independent since 2000), and ( together with Nikolai Wassilew, the former Bulgarian Minister of Economic Affairs) founding partner in the private equity venture capital fund management company "BulVentures CapitalPartners", one of the largest venture capital firms in Bulgaria.

Sakskoburggotski is also President of the “Bulgarian City Club”, London, and an honorary member of the board of the Bulgarian Employers' Association, EABG.
