Kirill Preobrazhensky

Kirill Preobrazhenski ( Russian Кирилл Преображенский , also transcribed in English Kirill Preobrazhenskiy ; * 1970 in Moscow ) is a Russian artist who makes use of video and installation art . His work was shown at the documenta .

life and work

Kirill Preobrazhensky works with videos, video installations and performances . Topics of his work are media theory , semiotics and pop culture, which he relates to everyday reality and social and political contexts. As part of the Moscow organization, in 1992 he worked on the interactive art project Piazza Virtuale , which was shown as an official special event during documenta IX .

As an official documenta artist, Preobrazhensky took part in documenta 12 . For his sound installation Tram 4 Inner Voice Radio , which was shown there , he recorded the life stories of immigrants and made them audible via headphones in a Kassel tram . Preobrazhensky lives and works in Moscow.

  • 2007: documenta 12 , Kassel. The work Tram 4 Inner Voice Radio , a sound installation on tram line 4, Kaufungen - Mattenberg, was shown.
