Cherry red is a shade . It is named after the sweet cherry . There are similarities with currant red and higher crimson .

In metallurgy , the color between dark red heat and orange heat is called cherry red heat . In botany , the color range between bright vermilion and crimson carmine is viewed as cherry red.

The color can be obtained by mixing madder lacquer with a lot of madder and little zinc white . Cotton scarlet, a tar dye with five percent ammonia solution, can also be used as a dye.
