Kirsten Lehnig (* 1975 in Bielefeld ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ) and a former member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg .

Life

Kirsten Lehnig studied law at the Universities of Münster and Konstanz . There she received her doctorate. She is married and has two children. She has been a member of the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen party since 2013. In 2014 she won mandates in the Gaggenau municipal council and as parliamentary group leader in the Rastatt district council . She was working as a judge at the Rastatt District Court when she ran for the state elections in Baden-Württemberg in 2016 and received the direct mandate (first mandate) in the Rastatt state constituency, which was previously dominated by the CDU, with 26.4% of the vote . Thereupon she withdrew from the local political work and let her profession as a judge rest. Two weeks after the opening of her constituency office in Gaggenau, she announced at the beginning of June 2016 that she would be giving up her state parliament mandate in August (which she resigned on August 4, 2016), as her husband would receive a permanent professorship at RWTH Aachen University . With the move from Baden-Württemberg, the legal basis of the mandate no longer applies. The previous substitute applicant in the constituency Thomas Hentschel was named as his successor .
