Klæbu was a municipality in Fylke Trøndelag in central Norway . As part of the municipal reform in Norway , Klæbu was merged with the city of Trondheim on January 1, 2020 .

6076 inhabitants lived in an area of ​​176.6 km² (as of January 1, 2019). The municipality number was 5030.

It was about 20 km south of Trondheim in the valley of the Nidelva River . There are three hydropower plants on this river in the Klæbus district alone . The municipality's coat of arms is a stylized representation of the Trangfossen waterfall, which has now sunk below the level of the Bjørsjøen reservoir.
