Klüngelbag

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Klüngelpaket is a church cabaret ensemble that works on current topics from the fields of church , religion and belief in a satirical and comedic way. The Klüngelbag is at home in the Protestant church environment and occurs mainly there. In addition to specific topics of the Protestant Church, cross-denominational and cross-religious topics of faith are also dealt with in general. The ensemble around Wolfram Behmenburg, the author of the texts, was founded in Cologne in 1990 and has so far developed eleven full-length programs and performed them in over 800 performances.

The program formats are based on classic cabaret models (sequence of sketches , songs , parodies ), which are supplemented by other elements such as rap singing, puppet theater , slapstick or material theater . Occasionally, unfamiliar combinations of genres are experimented with, such as B. the combination of comedy and sermon or cabaret and Bible study. The performances are shaped by the local color of Cologne (dialect, carnival).

The venues are mainly in the greater Cologne area and in the Rhine-Ruhr area. There were participation in several Protestant and Catholic church days. In the period 1997 to 2011 the Prot's session, an alternative Protestant carnival session in Cologne, was initiated and the main part of the stage program was contributed.

To mark the anniversary of the Reformation in 2017 and to accompany its program “Jihad in Wittenberg, Martin Luther his fight”, the bag with its blog “Luther and the Burqa Woman” stimulated the interreligious discussion on the topics of “ Islam in Germany” and “Reformation anniversary”.

In 2008, the Klüngelpaket was the first ensemble to be awarded the first German church cabaret award, the “Honnefer Spark Plug” (award given by the Catholic Social Institute Bad Honnef ).

ensemble

In 2017 the ensemble consists of the following members:

  • Wolfram Behmenburg, born in 1954, pastor in Cologne-Weiden, married to Ulrike Behmenburg. Founded the Klüngelpaket in 1990. Author of the texts.
  • Ulrike Behmenburg, born 1957, social pedagogue in educational work with international students. Founding member.
  • Joschi Vogel, born in 1960. Actor and director (including for the Stunksitzung in Cologne). Has been staging the programs since preparing for the Prot's meeting in 2001.
  • Walter Kunz, born in 1957, pastor in Cologne-Porz-Wahnheide. Member since 1994. Keyboard player.
  • Doris Kunz, born in 1959. Teacher and sports seminar leader, married to Walter Kunz. Member since 2013 as stage hand and driver.

Wolfram Behmenburg put together the first ensemble in 1989. Other founding members were his wife Ulrike Behmenburg on the stage and Wencke Wesemann (born 1966, theater painter at the stages of the city of Cologne), who also contributed props, photos, playback sounds and the lighting.

Friedrich Behmenburg, born in 1955, pastor in Schüttorf and Ulrike Behmenburg's brother, joined the stage in 1991, as did his wife Jutta Behmenburg, born in 1964, tax officer in 1992. Both retired in May 2012 when the "Hütchenspiele" program ran out.

In addition to the performances of the current full main programs, the Klüngelpaket also appears in a smaller cast on special occasions, e.g. B. to the highlight programs (with highlights from the repertoire; usually with Ulrike and Wolfram Behmenburg and Walter Kunz, the “little bag of gimmicks”) or at church convention appearances.

Programs

The Klüngelbag has developed and listed eleven programs so far.

  1. "From God's Villas". Premiere September 1990 at the Cologne City Church Convention.
  2. “Beware: Spirit Experiencer!” (1991). A cabaret music program together with the folk group "King Louis".
  3. "Lazy Magic" (1993). For the first time with a frame story for the numbers, with a corresponding dramaturgy and greater involvement of the stage design.
  4. "The noise" (1995). Detective story about the church and laughter.
  5. "The 2000th Birthday" (1997). With Leonardo da Vinci's "Last Supper".
  6. "Abgetaucht / Klüngelpaket goes Jona" (2000). Bible cabaret to the biblical book of Jonah, walking a tightrope between comedy and sermon.
  7. "Zero Tolerance" (2002). More traditional cabaret again, on the situation of religion in the new century.
  8. "Opium fürs Volk" (2006).
  9. “God is a shell player” (2010).
  10. “Thank you, Joachim” (2013). Cabaret hymn of praise for the farewell to Cardinal Meisner from Cologne.
  11. "Jihad in Wittenberg, Martin Luther his fight" (2015). Interreligious cabaret on Martin Luther, the anniversary of the Reformation and the church's need for reform in times of conflict with Islam.

In addition to these full-length programs, various smaller programs were put together from existing numbers or developed from scratch. These include the “highlight” programs (e.g. “scenes from a marriage”). The Klüngelbag has been repeatedly invited to church conventions and has appeared there with excerpts from existing programs or with special new program parts adapted to the occasion, namely at the Protestant Church Days 2007 in Cologne, 2011 in Dresden and at the Catholic Church Days 2012 in Mannheim and 2014 in Regensburg. At the Kirchentag in Dresden and Regensburg he was represented at the invitation of the Kirchentag Presidium with the new format of cabaret Bible study he had designed.

In 1997, the Klüngelpaket initiated the Prot's session, an alternative Protestant carnival session in Cologne, together with others from the Cologne scene. From 1997 to 2011 he contributed the main part of the stage programs for these sessions (sessions 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2011).
