The Robert-Schumann-Schule, Gymnasium der Stadt Leipzig (RSG) is a gymnasium in the Leipzig district of Lindenau at Demmeringstraße 84.

School use

The Robert-Schumann-Gymnasium-Leipzig serves as an educational facility for several hundred students, who are divided into 19 classes (excluding secondary level II) (school year 2016/2017). They are taught by 54 teachers.

history

The building, which has been used as a teaching facility (cooking school) since 1905, is a listed building (see list of cultural monuments in Altlindenau, A – K , Demmeringstrasse 84 or ID 09292708). In the meantime it also functioned as a primary school, middle school and polytechnic high school , but has been a grammar school since 1991. In 2006, 893 students were taught in 42 classes by 88 teachers. In the 2016/17 school year there were 666 students. From the 2017/2018 school year, the Robert-Schumann-Gymnasium has a branch. It is located in the former Uhland School in Lindenau.

Musically gifted pupils can receive sound training in singing or playing instruments in close cooperation with the music school "Johann Sebastian Bach". These or other students have the opportunity to play in the school's own band, the RSG band. The genre ranges from pop to jazz.
