The natural monument gorge and waterfalls on the Teichenbach is located on the Traun in Bad Aussee in Styria .
The Teichgrabenbach (Teichenbach) is a small right tributary of the Koppentraun near Lerchenreith , shortly after the confluence of the United Traun and the Kainischtraun (the respective upper reaches of the Traun), directly opposite the Bad Aussee train station , a good 1 kilometer southwest of the town center. The Traun is deepened by around 30 meters here, and the Teichgrabenbach forms an approx. 100 meter long estuary with several waterfalls. It is located in the gallery forest of the Traun and is difficult to access.
The solidified ( conglomerated ) ice-age river gravel of the Aussee basin is cut here, making the gorge an interesting geotope .
An area with 3134 m² was declared a natural monument in 1986 ( NDM.356 , nature conservation book: St-GB-022 / Bad Aussee, KG Unterkainisch ). The monument is located directly outside the buffer zone of the UNESCO World Heritage area of cultural landscape Hallstatt – Dachstein / Salzkammergut (border in the Traun).
