The class of the Cabinet Médailles 218 (English Class of Cabinet of Médailles 218 , also abbreviated .. Class of Cab Méd 218 or class of CM 218 ) is a class Attic - black-figure neck amphorae .
The class of Cabinet des Médailles 218 is a variant of the Nicosthenian amphora . The profile of these neck amphorae is more flowing than usual and less angular than the common shape. This makes them look more Greek than other vases of this type. The works are dated to the last third of the 6th century BC. Dated. The vases have been decorated by different painters. Pamphaios made two of the vases , they were painted by Oltos . Like all Nicosthenian amphorae, the works of the class of Cabinet des Médailles 218 were found exclusively in Caere . Thus, in the Nicosthenian tradition , they seem to have only been intended for export to Etruria .
The class was given its emergency name by John D. Beazley after a vase in the Cabinet des Médailles of the Bibliothèque nationale de France in Paris , which is kept there under catalog number 218 and which he assigned to the Boston painter 01.17 . In 1971 Beazley distinguished four subclasses within the class of Cabinet des Médailles 218: the Adikia Sub-Class , near the Adikia Sub-Class , the Sub-Class of Cabinet des Médailles 218 and Various .
