Classic on the Danube

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Klassik an der Donau is a music festival that has been held every summer since 2000 . It was originally launched in Vilshofen and has been taking place in the Joseph-von-Fraunhofer-Halle in Straubing since July 2002 .

Emergence

The founding father of Klassik an der Donau is Heinz Huber from Vilshof, on whose initiative the Jazz an der Donau festival , which was renamed Bluetone in 2012, was created.

Relocation to Straubing

With the move of the jazz festival from Vilshofen to Straubing, classical music also came to the Gäubodenstadt.

In 2007 there was no classical music festival because the Huber family wanted to concentrate on jazz. In 2008 the Straubinger Tagblatt / Landshuter Zeitung newspaper group took over the organization of Klassik an der Donau. Thus both events have become an integral part of all classical and jazz fans far beyond Straubing's borders.

Artists who have performed so far

So far, the Bavarian Symphony Orchestra , the Regensburger Domspatzen , Blechschaden , the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra , the Straubinger Chamber Choir, the Munich-Andechs Symphony Orchestra , an orchestra made up of members of the Munich Philharmonic and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra , the Ambassade Orchestra Vienna - the big one Ensemble of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, members of the Bruckner Orchestra Linz, the Radio Symphony Orchestra Prague and again members of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra on stage.

As part of the concert, there was always an introduction to the work for children, who were allowed to attend the final 30 minutes of the dress rehearsal of the entire orchestra. Since 2011, this part has become a separate event. "Classic on the Danube for Children" took place for the first time as a fairytale opera with "Munich's smallest opera house from the Pasinger factory" on Straubing town square. In 2012, the "Magic Flute" based on WA Mozart, the libretto of which was written by Emanuel Schikaneder from Straubing, was performed in a child-friendly manner on the 200th anniversary of his death. In 2013, the factory introduction for children was held again in the Joseph-von-Fraunhofer-Halle.
