Classical antiquity

As Classical Studies and Classical Antiquity is known since Friedrich August Wolf , the scientific study of the Greek - Roman antiquity , that the study of history and culture of the Greco-Roman influenced Mediterranean cultural area to about 600 AD..

The Classical Studies includes the following disciplines:

• Classical Philology ( Greek and Latin Studies )
• Old story
• Classical archeology

Classical and auxiliary sciences are considered to be:

• Papyrology
• palaeography
• Epigraphy
• numismatics
• Ancient legal history

Classical studies in general (or the plural classical studies ) then denotes the entirety of the disciplines that are devoted to the study of pre-feudal and pre-Islamic societies in the Mediterranean, the Middle East and Central Europe. In addition to classical antiquity, this includes prehistory and early history and the various branches of ancient oriental studies and Egyptology and other smaller subjects.
