Klaus Beyer (artist)

Klaus Beyer (born July 8, 1952 in Berlin ) is a German candle maker, filmmaker, composer and poet .

Life

He learned the profession of candle wax maker (journeyman's examination in 1971 in Munich ) and worked in a Berlin candle factory until 1997. In 1980 he began to translate songs from his favorite band The Beatles into German for his mother and re-recorded the songs on tape. The first videos were also made on Super-8 . In 1984 he was "discovered" by Gabi Poschmann in the environment of the Geniale Dilletanten . His films were shown to the public for the first time in the Kreuzberg Front Cinema , and were shown at documenta in 1987 and at numerous film festivals in São Paulo, Seoul, London and New York. He also became known through several appearances in productions by Christoph Schlingensief .
