Klaus Giercke
Klaus Giercke (born July 18, 1931 in Plau am See ) is a German psychiatrist and neurologist . He was a professor at the University of Rostock and head of the Schwerin District Neurological Clinic .
Life
After graduating from high school in Rostock in 1951, he studied human medicine in Rostock until 1957, where he received his doctorate in 1957; until 1959 he completed his compulsory assistantship in Rostock and until 1969 the specialist training in psychiatry and neurology. From 1962 he was senior physician at the neurological clinic, 1969 university lecturer. In 1967 he completed his habilitation . At the same time he became the director of the Schwerin District Nervous Clinic. From 1977 to 1990 he taught as an honorary professor for psychiatry and neurology, and from 1982 as an honorary professor for psychiatry and neurology at the Academy for Medical Training in the GDR . In 1988 he became disabled after a heart attack. From 1977 to 1979 he was secretary, then member of the board of the Society for Psychiatry of the Northern Districts, from 1986 chairman of the central specialist commission on psychiatry and neurology in the GDR and in 1986 he was appointed to the problem committee on neurology and psychiatry in the GDR. In 1972 he was appointed Medical Councilor, in 1979 Chief Medical Officer and in 1990 he received the Karl Bonhoeffer Medal of the Society for Psychiatry and Neurology of the GDR
