Klaus Kaindl

Klaus Kaindl is an Austrian linguist and translation scientist. He is professor for translation studies at the Center for Translation Studies at the University of Vienna .

Scientific career

Klaus Kaindl studied at the University of Vienna , the specialist translation , which he in 1988 with the Master graduated in philosophy. Klaus Kaindl has been employed at the Center for Translation Studies (formerly the Institute for Translation and Interpreter Training) at the University of Vienna since 1990 . In 1993 he received his doctorate in philosophy with Mary Snell-Hornby . In 2000 he qualified as an associate professor for translation studies at the University of Vienna with the thesis "Translation studies in interdisciplinary dialogue: Using the example of comic translation" .

Focus in research and teaching

Klaus Kaindl primarily deals with supposedly marginal topics in translation studies , such as the translation of comics , opera translation and the translation of popular music . In addition, translation theory, literary translation, translation criticism and translation comparison as well as the analysis of fictional translator characters are among his research and teaching priorities.
