Klaus Knopper (2009)

Klaus Knopper (* 1968 in Ingelheim ) is the developer of the Linux distribution Knoppix and LINBO .

Knopper studied at the University of Kaiserslautern , where he completed his university studies with a degree in electrical engineering . During his studies he was in charge of the German chess server GICS.

He works as a freelance IT consultant and developer in the open source environment and also gives courses on various topics related to free software . He is also a professor at the University of Kaiserslautern , Zweibrücken location, in the business administration department, where he is known for his lectures with content on the subject of IT.

In addition, Knopper organized the LinuxTag e. V. co-founded, which is the sponsor of the European Linux fair and conference of the same name . In 2005, however, Knopper left the club.

Inspired by the experiences of his blind wife, Knopper developed the ADRIANE solution , named after her , which is integrated in Knoppix and makes it easier for blind people to use computers by translating the screen content into spoken language.
