Klaus Kumpfmüller

Klaus Kumpfmüller (born November 29, 1969 in Schärding ) is an Austrian banker and the board member of the Austrian financial market supervisory authority . In January 2020 he was appointed CEO of HYPO Upper Austria by the Supervisory Board .

Life

Kumpfmüller studied economics at the Vienna University of Economics and Business and the Johannes Kepler University Linz with a focus on accounting and taxation and graduated in 1995 with a master's degree in social and economic sciences. From 1994 to 1995 he was a member of the cabinet of the State Secretary in the Ministry of Economic Affairs and subsequently parliamentary member of Maria Fekter .

In 1995 he started at Raiffeisenlandesbank Oberösterreich in Linz, where he worked as a key account manager for major institutional customers until 2002 . He then moved to Oberösterreichische Landesbank AG, where he was in charge of the key account management division. In addition, he was managing director and supervisory board member of several affiliated companies of the bank.

In 2011 he became a member of the board of the Austrian Federal Finance Agency , where he was responsible for the Austrian national debt management with a budget of around 200 billion euros. During his time on the board of directors, he issued an Austrian government bond with an ultra-long term of 50 years for the first time. Furthermore, Kumpfmüller was involved in the processing and dismantling of the financial portfolio of the State of Salzburg after the financial scandal there was uncovered .

Klaus Kumpfmüller has been a member of the board of the Austrian financial market supervisory authority since 2013. On January 20, 2020, the Supervisory Board appointed him to succeed Andreas Mitterlehner, who died in November 2019, as CEO of HYPO Upper Austria . He has a friendship with Thomas Stelzer, Governor of Upper Austria. At the beginning of February 2020, Eduard Müller succeeded him on an interim basis as a member of the FMA board. After a cooling-off phase , Kumpfmüller took up his position as CEO of HYPO Upper Austria in August 2020.
