Klaus Quirini

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

According to several hundred contemporary witnesses from Aachen, Klaus Quirini (* 1941 ) was the world's first moderating disc jockey in the Aachen Scotch Club , the world's first discotheque, under the artist name DJ Heinrich . Until then there had only been dance halls with live music or jukeboxes. Through his commitment, the activity of moderating disc jockey was recognized as a profession and included in the artists' social insurance. The trained newspaper volunteer founded several companies in which he sold services for the relevant clientele: in 1963 the German Discjockey Organization (DDO), in 1970 the Association of German Discotheque Entrepreneurs (DDU) and in 1974 the Association of German Musicians (VDM). Klaus Quirini has now handed over the management of the DDO and the DDU to Udo Starkens. As chairman of the board, Klaus Quirini heads the legal department of the Association of German Musicians (VDM). He is married and lives in Aachen .
