Klaus Röder (musician)

Klaus Röder - often spelled Roeder - (born April 7, 1948 in Stuttgart ) is a German musician and music teacher, he became known for his participation in the German band Kraftwerk .

Life

He learned to play the violin and piano before turning to engineering studies in image and sound in 1968 . According to his own statements, he was primarily inspired by Karlheinz Stockhausen . Later he also studied composition with Milko Kelemen and Günther Becker as well as guitar with Dieter Kreidler at the Robert Schumann University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf and graduated with a diploma for composition of electronic music.

Interested in experimental and avant-garde music, he began to design and build synthesizer controllers and guitar synthesizers, and to process music with synthesizers and cassette recorders.

Since 1972 he has been working as a guitar teacher at the music school in Langenfeld .

He used his guitar as a source of inspiration for his synthesizer in a free jazz group and played with Kraftwerk for a short time from 1974 to February 1975. He was involved in the recording of the US gold hit Autobahn .

Since 1975 he has been working in his own music studio in Solingen. Instead of traditional musical instruments, he almost exclusively uses the computer.

Röder is married and has three children, he lives and teaches in Langenfeld.
