Klaus Schöpsdau

Klaus Schöpsdau (born November 2, 1940 in St. Ingbert ; † October 28, 2016 there ) was a German classical philologist .

Klaus Schöpsdau studied classical philology at the University of Saarland , where he in 1969 with a thesis on ancient ideas about the history of Greek rhetoric doctorate was. From 1970 he worked as an academic councilor (later senior councilor, adjunct professor) at Saarland University, where he completed his habilitation in 2001 . He retired in March 2006.

Klaus Schöpsdau is a specialist in Greco-Roman rhetoric and philosophy. For the Wissenschaftliche Buchgesellschaft he wrote a translation and commentary of Plato's Dialogue Nomoi (first in 1977), which was reprinted in 1990 and 2001.
