Klaus Thies (born October 25, 1950 in Oberhausen ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Thies played in the Bundesliga with MSV Duisburg from the 1974/75 season . In his first year Thies landed with the MSV in 14th place in the table, but still managed to qualify for the European Cup, as the MSV made it into the final of the DFB Cup 1974/75 . The final, in which Thies played 90 minutes, was lost 0: 1 against Eintracht Frankfurt due to Charly Körbel's goal . The Frankfurters, who qualified for the UEFA Cup with 3rd place in the final table of the Bundesliga, started by winning the European Cup and Thies took over the starting position in the 1975/76 UEFA Cup with the MSV . In the UEFA Cup, Thies and his teammates ended in the second round against Bulgarian representative Levski Sofia . Rank ten was achieved in the Bundesliga. The following year, Thies' last year at MSV, was ninth. For Thies followed a year in the 2nd Bundesliga , he played for Wuppertaler SV .
