Klaus Tonndorf

Klaus Tonndorf (born September 6, 1939 in Riesa ; † February 24, 2020 ) has been chairman of the Roßlau (Elbe) city ​​council since 1999 . In 1989 he was a founding member of the New Forum Roßlau, a member of the Federal Spokesperson Council of the New Forum (one of the three federal chairmen), teacher and head of the Roßlau branch of the district adult education center in Anhalt.

Life

Tonndorf moved with his parents from Riesa to Roßlau (Elbe) as a toddler . Shortly after founding the New Forum Roßlau at the end of October 1989, he joined the citizens' movement. According to his own statement, the Olof Palme peace march in 1987, Erich Honecker's visit to the FRG and a Stasi raid on the Berlin environmental library in 1987 made him think. Tonndorf was a member of the Federal Spokesman's Council of the New Forum (one of the three federal chairmen). Tonndorf worked professionally as a teacher and headed the Roßlau branch of the Anhalt-Zerbst district adult education center.

Tonndorf sat on the city ​​council of Roßlau from 1990 to 2007 (from 1999 temporarily as chairman), from 2007 on the city council of Dessau-Roßlau . In 2004 he was awarded the Badge of Honor of the City of Roßlau.

In 2014 he published the work Neien Roßlooer Jeschicht′n , written in dialect and standard German . In autumn 2015 Tonndorf resigned from the Dessau-Roßlau city council and the administrative board of WBD Industriepark Dessau GmbH.
