research

Klaus Vieweg studied philosophy at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena and the Humboldt University in East Berlin in the 1970s . His specialty areas are German idealism, history and theory of skepticism and basic questions of a philosophy of freedom. At the center of his research is the attempt to show the topicality of Hegel's philosophy as a thinking of freedom. The main contributions to this are the contributions to Hegel's strategy of including the core ideas of philosophical skepticism as the 'free' side of philosophy, an overall interpretation of Hegel's most powerful work, the basic lines of the philosophy of law , and a new Hegel biography.

Klaus Vieweg's research and teaching stays have taken him several times to the University of Washington Seattle, the Universities of Tübingen, Heidelberg and Erlangen, the Ruhr University Bochum (Hegel Archive), the Charles University in Prague, the University of Pisa, the Universities of Siena and Turin , the University of Vienna, the Monash University in Melbourne as well as Mexico City, Medellin, Naples, Tokyo, Kyoto as well as the Fudan University and the East China University in Shanghai.
