Eberhard Eichenhofer

Eberhard Eichenhofer (born November 3, 1950 in Ulm ) is a German lawyer and professor at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena .

Life

After high school and community service, Eichenhofer began studying law at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen in 1971 . In the 1972/73 winter semester he moved to Saarland University in Saarbrücken, where he completed his first state examination in law in 1975. During his subsequent legal clerkship, he was a research assistant at Günther Jahr's chair . After his second state examination in 1978, he earned his doctorate in 1979 in Saarbrücken. jur., 1987 he also qualified as a professor in Saarbrücken for the subjects civil law, international private law, German and international labor and social law.

After working for the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and at the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Social Law in Munich, he accepted a position at the University of Osnabrück in 1989 . There he held a chair for civil law and social law until 1997. On April 1, 1997, he moved to Jena, where he has held the chair for social law and civil law ever since. Eichenhofer has also repeatedly taught at the Vienna University of Economics and Business and the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan . In addition, from October 2009 to September 2010 he was dean of the law faculty at the University of Jena.

In 2003 Eichenhofer was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Gothenburg . He is a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences in Göttingen . He is also a member of numerous associations, such as the German Social Law Association or the Association of Civil Law Teachers .

Eichenhofer is also co-editor of the magazine for European Social and Labor Law (ZESAR), by Die Sozialgerichtsbarkeit (SGb) and the European Journal of Social Security (EJSS).
