Günther year

Günther Jahr (born July 10, 1923 in Saarbrücken ; † February 10, 2007 ) was a German lawyer .

Life

Günther year studied at the Ruprecht-Karls-University of Heidelberg Law . In 1957 he was in Heidelberg with the work "The nature of the litis contestatio" to Dr. iur. PhD . He completed his habilitation at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich with a work on the Litis contestatio . After a professorship at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel , he moved to the Saarland University in 1961 to the chair for civil law and Roman law , private international law and comparative law . He was Dean of the Faculty of Law and Economics from 1964 to 1965 and from 1973 to 1974. From 1975 to 1978 Günther Jahr was First Vice President of Saarland University.

Act

One of his main areas of research was international bankruptcy law . Jahr was involved in university law . He developed the university constitution and was involved in the drafting of a university law. He was director of the legal seminar library for almost 30 years.

Since 1972 he has been the spokesman for the Collaborative Research Center “Legal Theory and Legal Sociology” and since 1981 has headed the Institute for European Law.
