Klaus Wirth

Klaus Wirth (born July 2, 1935 ) is a German entrepreneur and manager. He is the managing director and co-owner of the Münchberg mail order company Atelier Goldner Schnitt .

Wirth was born as the son of the company's founder Heinrich Wirth . After he left the University of Munich in 1960 as a business graduate, he joined his parents' company in 1961. In 1975 he became general partner and sole shareholder of the company. Under his leadership, the house developed into the leading mail order company for fashion for women aged 50 and over. The annual turnover in 2004 was 156 million euros, and almost 600 people were employed across Germany. In February 1999, Wirth entered into a partnership with the Quelle mail order company . The jointly founded holding company TriStyle took over 51 percent of the company shares and Wirth became its managing director. He retired from this position on December 31, 2001 due to age.

In addition to his business activities, Wirth was a member of the Presidium of the Federal Association of German Mail Order Companies (bvh) from 1976 to 2004 . For 14 years from 1988 to 2002 he served as its president. In 2002 he received the Federal Cross of Merit, First Class.

In 2004, Wirth received the Life Time Award of the bvh for his entrepreneurial achievements and his long-term commitment as association president . On July 5th, 2006 he received the Bavarian Order of Merit from the hand of the Bavarian Prime Minister Edmund Stoiber .
