Klaus Zelzer

Klaus Zelzer (born May 16, 1936 in Vienna ) is an Austrian classical philologist .

Life

Klaus Zelzer studied Classical Philology at the University of Vienna , where he received his doctorate on June 28, 1962 with the dissertation Investigations into the character of the younger Pliny’s collection of letters . He then worked as a lecturer at the University of Vienna, where he also completed his habilitation and was appointed associate professor. He is now retired.

Zelzer deals with the Latin literature of late antiquity , especially with patristics . In addition to two critical editions (Die alten Latinischen Thomasakten, Berlin 1977; Regula Basili a Rufino latine versa, Vienna 1986; Regula Magistri is in progress) he wrote a. a. Studies on the text history of the Rule of Benedict of Nursia and on the writing De officiis by Ambrosius of Milan. Since 1981 he has been co-editor of the now discontinued Regulae Benedicti Studia magazine . He was married to the Latin and patristic specialist Michaela Zelzer .
