Kleenex box

The American company Kimberly-Clark has been selling paper hygiene articles under the brand name Kleenex since 1924 . In the English-speaking world, the term is used synonymously for paper handkerchiefs and can therefore be found in many encyclopedias , including the Oxford English Dictionary .

history

The paper manufacturer Kimberly-Clark from Neenah ( Wisconsin ) began to market handkerchiefs for single use in the western world for the first time in 1924 . Initially, the wipes for facial care were advertised, only later for use in case of colds . Until then, handkerchiefs were generally made of fabric and washed after repeated use. However, paper handkerchiefs had been used in Japan for several centuries at this point. In 1929 the Kleenex box was patented and marketed.

Today Kimberly-Clark has more than $ 1 billion in sales of clover towels . The brand group's products are manufactured in 30 countries and sold in 170 countries.
