The Royal Air Force Station Podington , RAF Podington for short , was a military airfield of the United Kingdom Air Force in the Unitary Authority Borough of Bedford . The base was during the Second World War from 1940 to 1942 for the Bomber Command of the Royal Air Force built and particularly by the United States Army Air Forces used (USAAF), who as USAAF Station 109 designated.

In 1966, opened on the site of the Santa Pod Raceway , a vehicle track for drag racing .
