The Kleinbahn AG Schönberg – Nikolausdorf was a private railway company in Prussia . She was the owner of the standard gauge railway line Schönberg - Nikolausdorf in the Lower Silesian district of Lauban .

history

Although the Görlitz – Lauban state railway had already been opened in 1865 and passed only a few kilometers from the small town of Schönberg in Upper Lusatia, it was only connected to the railway network more than sixty years later. The cross connection planned by the Prussian State Railways between the Görlitz − Lauban railway and the Görlitz – Seidenberg – Friedland railway could not be built because of the First World War; Even in the first post-war years there was a lack of funds.

On December 7, 1926, the German Reich , the province of Lower Silesia , the Lauban district, the city of Schönberg and a manufacturer founded a small railway company.

They decided to build a 3.5 kilometer long railway from Nikolausdorf station on the aforementioned main line to the city of Schönberg, which in 1939 had more than 1900 inhabitants. It was built by the Breslau construction company Schmoschewer & Co., which also ran the facility in the first few years. The traffic was opened on October 29, 1927.

Both passenger and freight traffic were brisk. If in 1934 four pairs of trains were used on workdays and six on Sundays, in 1939 there were eight on weekdays and seven on Sundays. Even in the last year of the war, 1944, the number was only reduced by one pair of trains. In 1939 the company had two steam locomotives and two railcars as well as one passenger car and two freight cars.

After the Second World War, the line remained in operation and was extended to Zawidów (Seidenberg) in 1948 , as had been planned 35 years earlier. The former route of the Schönberg – Nikolausdorf small railway is now part of the Mikułowa – Bogatynia railway line .
