Company Lenz & Co GmbH opened on 15 December 1896 normalspurige small train of Cüstrin-Neustadt railway station to Sonnenburg Neumark in (14,6 km) where was the seat of the management. The Kleinbahn AG Cüstrin – Kriescht founded on July 11, 1905 acquired this line and extended it on October 22, 1906 to Kriescht by 15.3 kilometers. The name Kleinbahn-AG Cüstrin – Hammer, which was used from 1914, anticipated the extension of 13 km, which only came about on January 5, 1915 - already during the war. The now 43 km long small railway ran along the southern edge of the Warthebruch and ended in Hammer on the state railway line that connected Landsberg (Warthe) with Zielenzig, the capital of the Oststernberg district. Since 1934 the city of Küstrin was written as K.

The Prussian state, the province of Brandenburg , the district of Oststernberg and the forestry treasury were involved in the small railway company . The company was initially run by Lenz & Co, then from 1920 by the Brandenburg State Transport Authority.

The advance of the front at the end of the Second World War brought the small railroad traffic to a standstill in January 1945. Passenger traffic was discontinued in 1992, the line has been closed.
