history

The place was probably in the 6./7. Century founded in the course of the conquest of the country. The first documentary mention followed in 786 when it was donated to the Fulda monastery . In 1554, Valentin von Münster bought the estate from Count Georg Ernst from Henneberg and expanded his rule in the village in 1574 when Prince-Bishop Julius Echter enfeoffed him with the part of the village from Würzburg. The Castle Kleineibstadt remained the family of Munster until 1866 owned. The aristocratic seat of Kleineibstadt was destroyed by lightning in 1900 and later completely demolished. Mention can also be made of the Jewish community in Kleineibstadt (see Synagogue (Kleineibstadt) ), which existed until 1937; its formation probably goes back to the 17th century.

On May 1, 1978, the previously independent community was incorporated into the neighboring community of Großeibstadt.
