Klenshyttan is a small town ( Småort ) and a former steelworks in the municipality of Ludvika in the Swedish province of Dalarnas län .

Pig iron was produced in Klenshyttan from 1605 to 1920 . Today the ironworks is an industrial museum and part of the Bergslagen Ekomuseum .

history

The first ironworks was probably built in 1605. In the oldest surviving written sources, the place is called "Klämshyttan", since a hammer forge was built, but it was closed again in 1650. The steelworks has been modernized several times. The well-preserved charcoal blast furnace dates from 1882. The roasting furnace, a lime kiln, the manor house and various ruins of buildings are also located in the former hut area.
