The clinic was completed in March 1984 with three ward blocks lined up next to one another - it had 847 beds - the construction costs amounted to 335 million DM . At the 30th anniversary in 2014, the fourth bed tower was announced as a construction project. This was included in the original plans from the 1980s. Several preliminary structural work had already been carried out at that time, but the capacity expansion was not necessary at the time.
In September 2014, the house was in the public eye, because the head physician of the Department of Vascular Surgery, Vascular Medicine and Phlebology should have anesthetized and abused employees and patients. The accused chief doctor was dismissed.
The fourth bed tower with a capacity of an additional 311 beds will open on each floor until late summer 2019. The second level offers space for child psychosomatics, the third for adults. The new clinic for integrative medicine and naturopathy has been set up on the fourth floor. The stroke unit has already moved into the fifth floor. In addition, there is neurological early rehabilitation and the complete treatment chain of neurological rehabilitation. The next step is to move into the new care unit for geriatric medicine on the sixth floor. Further floors will follow.
