Sewer incidence

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The cloaca prolapse or cloaca prolapse is a pathological protrusion of the cloaca in reptiles and birds . Parts of the ovaries , fallopian tubes or intestines can also protrude.

The causes are disturbances in the laying of eggs ( laying difficulty ), chronic diarrhea , foreign bodies in the intestine, severe parasite infestation , constipation and, in older laying hens, weak connective tissue.

The therapy depends on the extent and degree of the changes in the mucous membrane. In fresh incidents can be attempted after cleaning manually the incident reposition and the cloaca then with a purse string are supported. However, the risk of recurrence is quite high. In the case of severe tissue destruction , dead parts must be surgically removed. To avoid recurrences, the cloaca can be sewn to the back of the trunk wall ( cloacopexy ), and possibly also the rectum ( colopexy ).
