Klomanager is an economic simulation originally programmed for the Atari ST by Anvil-Soft from 1995. The player slips into the role of a toilet manager who is in charge of several public toilets in a city. He must ensure that the facilities are well maintained and clean as the game progresses. He can also make visiting the toilets more attractive with all sorts of upgrades (e.g. with toilet paper made of silk or toilet bowls made of gold). But also dark machinations such as sabotage are available to the player to outdo the competition. The aim of the game is to get as much money as possible from visitors to the facilities and awards before the other players in order to ultimately become a club manager.
Atari
Originally, Matthias Hofmann and Ronald Wendt developed toilet managers for the Atari ST . This version offers the same gameplay as the newer Windows version. Up to four players can take part in a game. Like all games back then, Klomanager had 16 colors with a maximum image resolution of 320 × 200 pixels. Production of the game began in 1993. It was released two years later, although Klomanager only met with a great response in January 1996 through an appearance in Atari Inside magazine.
Windows
In 2000 Klomanager first appeared for Windows. New features of the game are a revised graphical user interface and a somewhat more detailed background story. There were also some innovations in the game itself, such as toilet seats with cup holders. Later there were two other versions of the game, Klomanager Gold and Klomanager Deluxe , which provide improved graphics and small changes, but have the same gameplay.
In 2006 an English version was published in the Benelux countries under the title Toilet Tycoon .
On December 20, 2018, the alpha version of the new edition Klomanager - Hochgewürgt by Ronald Wendt was published. This version is also available for Android and should appear for Linux and possibly other systems such as macOS or iOS.
Club manager 2
Due to the positive feedback from Klomanager , Anvil-Soft has been developing a successor since 2001, which should go on sale in 2006.
Here a complete city (not just a few areas as in the predecessor) should be the scene of the event. The player can now hire employees and take out loans from a bank, to name just a few new features. A release date is not yet known.
