The Aubignac (Albiniacum) monastery is a former Cistercian abbey in the commune of Saint-Sébastien in the Creuse department , Nouvelle-Aquitaine region , in France . The monastery was about 19 kilometers north of La Souterraine .
history
The monastery was founded by the Benedictines of Dalon Monastery in 1138. It joined the Cistercian order with Dalon in 1162 in the filiation of the Pontigny Primary Abbey . In the 17th century the writer François Hédelin was Commendatarabbot of Aubignac. In 1791 the monastery was closed during the French Revolution .

Only insignificant remains of the monastery have survived at the end of a footpath.
