Cabanoule Monastery (Latin: Monasterium Beatae Mariae de Pace Dei ; French: Monastère de la Paix-Dieu Cabanoule ) is a Trappist monastery in Anduze , Gard department , France , in the diocese of Nîmes .

history

In 1970 Gardes Monastery founded the Notre-Dame de la Paix-Dieu (God's Peace) monastery in the diocese of Nîmes at the foot of the Cevennes . The initiative came from the Abbess Marie de la Trinité Kervingant (1903-1990), who was close to the ecumenical thinking of Paul Couturier and who felt encouraged by the 2nd Vatican Council to found a monastery in the Calvinist environment of the Reformed Church of France . She was able to win the trust and help of Pastor Paul Bastian (1920–2011) and, together with him, set a sign of ecumenical peace.
