Klosterbeuren monastery
Klosterbeuren Monastery is a former monastery of the Terziarinnen of the Franciscan Observants in Klosterbeuren , municipality of Babenhausen in Bavaria in the diocese of Augsburg .
history
The monastery consecrated to the Holy Blood was founded by Knight von Schönegg before 1273 with the consent of Count Hartmann von Grüningen. It was an Augustinian convent until around 1500, after which it was a Franciscan convent. During the Thirty Years' War the monastery was looted and ravaged by the plague . As from this event, the monastery was able to recover from a second looting in 1800 , which was accompanied by the devastation of the monastery by fire. But just three years after this second looting, the monastery was dissolved in the course of secularization in favor of the Teutonic Order . Two years later the buildings came into the possession of the Bavarian state, which sold them again. The monastery buildings were finally demolished around 1860 .
