Klosterbeuren is part of the Babenhausen market with 510 inhabitants. The village is about two and a half kilometers south of Babenhausen at the confluence of the Otterbach and the Klosterbeurener Bach .

history

The history of the place is closely linked to the history of the Klosterbeuren monastery , which was dissolved in the course of secularization in 1803.

In 1273 Heinrich and Eberhard von Schönegg donated the village called "Bourrun" to the Augustinian convent in Wurzach . By the end of the 15th century , the monastery rose to the position of local lord and gave the village its current name. Through the secularization, Klosterbeuren, like the entire area between Iller and Lech , became part of Bavaria .

On May 1, 1978, the previously independent municipality of Klosterbeuren was incorporated into Markt Babenhausen as part of the municipal reform.

politics

coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on January 21, 1970 by decision of the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior.

Blazon : "Under a silver shield head, inside a horizontally lying red deer pole, in red three (2: 1) set silver mallets."

Around 1273/74, a convent was built in what was then Beuren, which was of great importance for the history of the community. Towards the end of the 15th century, the monastery also acquired local authority over what is now known as Klosterbeuren. The convent received the founding equipment from the lords of Schönegg, who in turn had held this property as a fief of the von Grüningen count family from Württemberg. Since an actual monastery coat of arms cannot be proven, the heraldic badges of the gentlemen von Schönegg (three mallets) were used to document the historical development of Klosterbeuren, for which the stag stick from the Grüningen coat of arms appears as a distinguishing symbol. The coat of arms colors red and silver are those of the Augsburg Hochstift coat of arms; since the middle of the 14th century, the bishopric had territorial rule over Klosterbeuren.

The design and design of the coat of arms was carried out by Rudolf Mussgnug from Nördlingen.

flag

The flag is striped red and white with the municipal coat of arms.
