Monastery Mistassini (lat. Abbatia Beatae Mariae de Mistassini ; double. Abbaye Cistercienne Mistassini ) is a Canadian Abbey Trappist in Dolbeau-Mistassini , Quebec , Roman Catholic Diocese of Chicoutimi .

history

Oka Monastery founded Notre-Dame de Mistassini in 1892 not far from Lac Saint-Jean . In 1904 the monastery was raised to the rank of priory , in 1911 the convent building was consecrated, in 1942 the church. From 1935 Mistassini was an abbey . In 1966 the abbot of Mistassini became immediate superior of the Calvaire monastery . A sawmill contributed to the maintenance of the monastery (from 1896), and a chocolate factory (until today). In 1980 the monastery (five kilometers away) moved to new buildings.
