Péruwelz Monastery
Péruwelz Monastery was a Belgian monastery of the Saint Bernard Sisters of Esquermes in Péruwelz , Bon-Secours, in the province of Hainaut , Diocese of Tournai , from 1904 to 2010 .
history
In view of the religious hostility of the Third Republic, the Saint Bernard Sisters of Lille moved their mother house (from 1883 to 1942) to Ollignies (today: Lessines ) in Belgium and founded it in 1904 as a refuge from the law separating church and state (with the dissolution of the monasteries) in the former Place Bon-Secours (today: Péruwelz) near the French border, the Notre Dame de Bon-Secours monastery (buildings completed in 1922), which existed until 2010, but then had to be closed for lack of appointments.
