The Palais-Notre-Dame monastery (Palatium Beatae Mariae) is a former Cistercian abbey in the commune of Thauron in the Creuse department , Nouvelle-Aquitaine region , in France . The monastery is located around 9 km north of Bourganeuf .
history
The monastery was founded by Géraud de Salles around 1155 on the banks of the Taurion and was occupied by monks from Dalon monastery , with whom it joined the Cistercian order in 1162 in the filiation of the Pontigny primary abbey. It was disbanded in the French Revolution in 1791. Today it is privately owned.
Buildings and plant
Only traces of the 12th century church with a flat end remain of the monastery.
