Portglenone Monastery (Latin Abbatia Beatae Mariae de Bethlehem ; English Our Lady of Bethlehem Abbey ) is a Trappist abbey in Portglenone ( Irish Port Chluain Eoghain ) near Ballymena , County Antrim , Northern Ireland . It is in the Diocese of Down and Connor .

history

The Irish monastery Mount Melleray founded the monastery Our Lady of Bethlehem ("Our Lady of Bethlehem") in 1948 in the crisis area in Northern Ireland , which was elevated to an abbey in 1951 .
