The Sanctus Angelus Monastery in Petra was a Cistercian abbey in the Latin Empire from 1214 to 1261 , now in Turkey. It was in Constantinople .
history
The monastery was founded in the time of the Latin Empire in 1214 at the request of Emperor Heinrich von Flanders from the Hautecombe monastery in Savoy and thus belonged to the filiation of the Clairvaux Primary Abbey . Petra started the foundation of the daughter monastery Sanctus Angelus in Rufiniano (Rufiniane) in Chalkedon (today Kadiköy ) in 1225 . It came to an end with the Latin Empire in 1261.
The abbot of Sanctus Angelus in Petra was entrusted with the supervision of the Cistercian convent of St. Mary of Percheio in Constantinople.
