The St. Augustine Monastery in Gallwitzallee in Berlin-Lankwitz houses a convent of the German Province of the Sisters of Mary of the Immaculate Conception in the Archdiocese of Berlin .

The mother house of the Sisters of Mary in Breslau and many other branches of the religious order were destroyed in the Second World War, so that the sisters had to look for new places of work. In this context they were already active in 1945 in the parish Mater Dolorosa in Lankwitz, where they initially took care of the nursing and pastoral care of refugees in Kaulbachstrasse. In the same year the transit home for the refugees was converted into an old people's and infirmary home, which was named St. Franziskusheim .

In 1948 the Sisters of Mary also moved to Gallwitzallee, where they found accommodation in a rebuilt former barracks, which was given the name Maria Trost . Little by little, a hospital was built. After mediation by the Catholic politician Johann Baptist Gradl , the Sisters of Mary were able to purchase the building complex in 1966. From 1987 to 1993 new buildings were built for the Maria Trost hospital , and in 1990 it was named Sankt-Marien-Krankenhaus .

From 1992 to 1996 the monastery with the chapel was built, which was consecrated on September 5, 1996 by Georg Cardinal Sterzinsky . To the side of the altar are three church windows by the artist Erentrud Trost , which thematize the spirit-filled church (left) and Mary as a church (right).

On September 8, 2006, the two German provinces of the order were merged. In autumn 2016 the provincial chapter of the German Province took place in the monastery , which the general chapter in Berlin prepared in May 2017.

Since September 2018 the monastery has belonged to the pastoral area of ​​Lankwitz-Marienfelde .
