A drawing by Peter Rosegger from 1888

The Kluppeneggerhof is located in Alpl in the market town of Krieglach in the Bruck-Mürzzuschlag district in Styria . The mountain farm is the birthplace of Peter Rosegger and is now a museum . The several hundred year old building is under monument protection ( list entry ).

history

A farm at this point was first mentioned in 1493. The current residential building dates back to 1744 after a year on the tram tree of the wooden beam ceiling in the "large room". Soon afterwards, Peter Rosegger's great-grandfather came to the farm through marriage. Peter Rosegger was born on July 31, 1843 in the “large room”. Until 1868 the family was in debt due to bad harvests, cattle diseases and diseases and had to sell the farm. Later it changed hands several times. In 1927 the province of Styria acquired the already dilapidated house and the ruinous outbuildings. In 1929 the administrator's house was built. A replica of the Brechelhütte comes from the 1970s. The "Umadumstall" was reconstructed for the 1993 Styrian State Exhibition . The farm is now part of the Universal Museum Joanneum and, like a mill on the Freßnitzbach that used to belong to the farm, is a listed building.

Plant and name

It was a three-sided courtyard with a dwelling house, stable building, as well as outbuildings, a flax break room, a grain and a tool room. The old name was "front Kluppenegger", in contrast to the neighboring farm "rear Kluppenegger". The name is likely to be derived from Kluppe, which means pliers and describes the shape of the landscape.
