Styrian national exhibition

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Styrian State Exhibition took place from 1959 to 2006 based on the example of agricultural model fairs, art exhibitions and the world exhibitions of the 19th century. After a biennial rhythm, it was held almost annually from 1986 to 2006 at different locations in Styria . Each time the exhibition is based on a different theme, which is usually related to the venue.

From 2008 the regional exhibition took place every second year instead of the Styrian state exhibition . The reference to art and culture should be strengthened again and economic issues pushed into the background. The state's financial contribution was first reduced to 4 and finally to 2 million euros and earmarked for the design of the exhibition. Funds for infrastructural measures and framework programs must be raised by the organizing municipality or region in other ways. When the Styrian cultural budget was cut by 6 million euros from 2013, the regional budget was also discontinued.
