Bar picture

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As Kneip image (also Couleur image , and later Kneip photo , Couleur Photo ) is a portrait of an individual member of a fraternity called in colors supporting student associations usually in stripes of each compound.

This student custom has its origins in the production of silhouettes in the 18th century, some of which were inked or glued into the family books , but also emerged as closed collections, such as the Göttingen Schubert silhouette collection . The custom was refined in the Biedermeier period. With the introduction of stone printing, developments in Germany split temporarily; some university locations preferred modern lithography, while more conservative university locations such as Göttingen and Heidelberg continued to prefer the partially colored silhouette. This memorabilia evolved over the course of the 19th century with the spread of photography . On the one hand, these pictures, usually with a dedication , were given to each other as souvenirs out of friendship - but also exchanged with the counter-timpani , for example, for scales . On the other hand, each member of his student union dedicated a pub picture that was hung in the pub , so that large member galleries were created over time.
